Here are a few photos from what's been going on lately... playing on the slide, swimming at the Elk's club pool, parading around in a sun hat, and enjoying the rock bed out front. Honestly, I don't know why it took me so long to use those rocks to my advantage. I fussed at them for playing in them (because they were scattering them) over and over again. Then it dawned on me that we had TWO dump truck type things that would keep them entertained and in one spot. Duh!
Oh yeah, and Maggie is wearing a bandanna dress I sewed in those rock photos.
And I totally stole the $.97 spray bottle trick from a friend. Hank and Maggie loved them and they just sprayed a nice, fine mist over everything. No soaking with a water gun, and no constant refilling. Perfect for these days that have been close to 100 degrees already.
I have no photos to document this, but this afternoon we went and swam in the neighbor's pool with our other (backyard) neighbor's 3-year-old, Gil and his aunt. This was my first attempt at managing both kids at a pool by myself and it went way better than expected. It was a smaller pool, so they were pretty well contained, and I got to just hang out in the mostly-shaded, cool water. Then they both scarfed down more food at supper than I have ever seen before (and they're both fantastic eaters already), then fell asleep easily and early. A total win-win.
