Practice Jacket

I made this jacket from some fabric I just had on hand to test out a new pattern. I have some laminated fabric that I plan to make a longer raincoat for Maggie's birthday. Just finished the practice one up this morning and Maggie loves it :)

It's about a size too big (on purpose) and is supposed to have 3/4 length sleeves, but they look just about right on Maggs. Maybe by Fall they'll be the correct length.

Christmas 2011 Group Photo

Sorry for the delay. I just TODAY (the last day of January) downloaded all the photos from my camera from Christmas. We have done a photo like this ever since I can remember. Everyone at Mamaw & Papaw's on Christmas Eve lines up with the grandparents and takes a photo. This, of course, is only a partial of all of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I think last count put grandchildren at 11 and great-grandchildren at 14?

Anyway, this took some fancy photoshopping to get Joey in and to get Tommy's eyes open, but here's the official Christmas photo from 2011:

Hank's bathrobe...

This may be the very first piece of clothing I've ever made for Hank. He was SO excited when we bought the robot fabric. Every time he saw it he would ask me if it was a robe yet. So Friday night I got to work after bedtime and got it mostly finished. He LOVED it!!!

Afterwards he asked to wear his robe instead of get dressed, so now he's eating lunch in his bath robe! How relaxing :)

Doll house

Hank has been using the doll house pieces as a car ramp :)

Maggie & the Button Jar

Maggie wanted to try on this dress that Aunt Candace gave her for Christmas. I told her it needed a button -- that's why it was hanging in my office, and is where she saw it and got all interested in it. So she kept telling me "need button" and bringing me the dress. So cute to hear her say that "need button" :)

Anyway, I dumped the whole jar into a box lid and she was so helpful and cute. She'd pick up a button, hold it up to the dress like I was doing, and then put it back in the box. I found a perfect match, sewed it on, and let her wear it while we put all the buttons back in the jar.

This was a happy little girl. I think we'll be playing with the button jar lots more in the future.

Christmas got crazy...

I'll try to sort and update Christmas photos soon. Traveling to Winnsboro, then Fort Worth, then Winnsboro, then back to Shreveport kinda threw me for a loop. Then James and I went to New Orleans for a Saints game on January 7th, and finally I went to Dallas this past weekend for my annual college friends trip on MLK weekend. Whew! I really do intend to post Christmas photos, but for now here's one of my favorites of the kids and James playing with Maggie's doll house -- a gift from Santa.
