We found out Wednesday that CABOSA now has a 3-year-old league and thought we'd go ahead and sign Hank up. Then we found out that it started on FRIDAY. So that gave us a crazy couple of days to get him signed up and all of the miniature soccer gear purchased.
He absolutely LOVED it! Come to find out, he introduced himself as "Slinky" and would correct those who referred to him as "Hank". Like most of the other kids he wasn't very focused and took some encouraging to actually stay on the field and listen to his coach. But he was the only kid to stop at every plane that flew over to point and yell at the top of his lungs "I SEE THE AIRPLANE! Mama, I SEE THE AIRPLANE!" The soccer park is near the airport, so he saw at least half a dozen planes, and then one helicopter that he also announced with just as much enthusiasm.
Super hilarious and fun. His buddy Miller Beauclair got to join the same team, so he did know one other kid. They don't have a set team and don't really play formal games, so it's easy to just count off 6 or 8 kids per coach depending on who shows up on any given night. Next time we'll try to make sure James is coaching Hank's team, but for a very first soccer practice it went pretty well.
